Hey, there! My name is Zak I am passionate about collaborating with LGBTQIA+ and TGNCNB individuals and communities through creative approaches to healing. Returning to my hometown of Austin, Texas, after studying in Chicago, Illinois, where I received my Master's in Counseling and Art Therapy, I am honored to be back to serve my community.

Working within a queer, social justice, anti-oppressive framework, I believe that clients should not have to explain or educate their therapist about minority stress and discrimination. These approaches provide tools that situate our work together within the context of larger systems of power and oppression. I believe your lived experiences and unique ways of knowing are critical sources for catalyzing empowerment, resilience, and change. In the art therapy studio, whether virtual or in-person, I partner with you in the shared pursuit of achieving your goals and attaining satisfaction from all areas of your life. The creative process allows us to imagine new ways of being by engaging with the artwork.

It will be an honor and a privilege to witness your creativity, expression, and capacity to affect change within yourself and others. I believe that my role as your art therapist is to provide stewardship for stimulating curiosity, clarifying your goals, and exploring alternative possibilities. You can find out more about me here.

I am accepting new clients for in-person and virtual art therapy services. I look forward to working with you!
