I want you to know that I respect where you are in your journey towards improved mental health, no matter where you are in the process. Just browsing this site and contemplating therapy is an important first step for the healing and growth process, and I am happy you are here. I am passionate about partnering with people in a therapeutic way to help support them in their growth and development.
I began my career as an art educator. In my ten years of teaching, I worked with children in grades K-12 from a wide variety of backgrounds and abilities. I discovered that I loved helping them develop their own identities and sense of self. Art making can be very empowering. I went back to school and got my Master’s in art therapy because I wanted to help people on a deeper level.
I have experience providing art therapy in both a children’s medical hospital and an adult psychiatric hospital. For the last four years, I have been providing art therapy services for special education students in a school district. My specialty is working with children and teens, especially those who are neurodivergent. My experience in working within the Special Education department has allowed me to become very familiar with the SPED system. I help my clients learn to advocate for themselves in that process, because it can be intimidating.
My approach is person-centered and tailored to the individual person’s needs. I incorporate several modes of therapy, such as traditional talk therapy, art therapy, play therapy, sandtray, mindfulness, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
